Senior Master Sergeant Damon Z. Smith (Retired)

Smith is the Superintendent of Education and Training for HQ Air Force Personnel Center, Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph, Texas.  Sergeant Smith serves as the unit’s single focal point of required military and civilian training knowledge for 3,1800 personnel.   His section develops, edits, and coordinates, training requirements needed for on-the-job training, upgrade training, professional military education, and newcomers orientation for personnel assigned to HQ Air Force Personnel Center.

Sergeant Smith joined the Air Force and reported to Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, for Basic Military Training in July 1987.  He graduated from the Nuclear Weapons Specialist course at Lowry AFB, Colorado in February 1988 and retrained into the Education and Training career field in February 1999.  During his career, he has served in various assignments from squadron to staff level.

Senior Master Sergeant Leopoldo Polanco-Sierra (Retired)

Senior Master Sergeant Polanco-Sierra was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic later growing up in Jersey City, NJ, where he graduated from James J. Ferris, High School. He joined the Air Force Delayed Enlistment Program in October 1986 and soon after he entered service on Apr 7, 1987.  Upon graduating from Basic Military Training, he attended technical school at Keesler AFB, MS, where he trained as a Personnel Specialist.  After technical school, he reported to his first assignment at Malmstrom Air Force Base,Montana. Two years later he received an assignment to Alconbury England, United Kingdom where his talents flourish not only as a personnelist, but also as an entertainer.  He competed for the position of sound engineer and earned the opportunity to tour with  United Air Force in Europe Showcase Entertainment and Air Force Tops In Blue. During his assignment at Alconbury due to a transformation in the Air Force ranks, he was one of the last of the Airmen to wear the distinctive rank of Sergeant for outstanding job performance.   In 1993, he was reassigned to Osan Air Base Korea, were he was selected as Technical Director for Air Force Tops In Blue 1994 tour.  In 1994 through 2001 he was reassigned to Barksdale Air Base, Louisiana, where he retrained and became a Personnel Systems Manager. Reassigned to Yokota Air Base Japan where he continued to flourish and he was STEP promoted to MSgt.   In February 2007, he was reassigned to Randolph Air Force Base Texas where he led transformation of the Military Personnel Data System.  His continued efforts to reach his educational goals allowed him to complete his Associate Degree in Human Resources.  In 2010 he deployed in support of Iraqi Enduring and Iraqi Freedom as Chief of PERSCO Operations. He assumed his current duties with the Air Force Reserve Command in February 2011. Throughout Senior Master Sergeant Polanco-Sierra’s military career, he has not only served with distinction in his primary military duties, but has also served with distinction as Air Force Sergeant Association Chapter President, Senior Advisor on base and in the community
